Greer Cultural Arts Council's New Home at the old National Guard Armory Building

Published: Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Last Saturday night, Erin and I celebrated Saint Valentine's Day by attending the Starry Night Gala to benefit the Greer Cultural Arts Council's new home. The event was well attended at the beautiful Greer City Hall, but their new facility will be in the, still under construction, old National Guard Armory building next door.

The old Armory, built in 1936 is presently under going a major reconstruction and retro-fit. Not only will the new building be the central location in the community for the Arts, but also a multipurpose facility, well suited for community meetings, celebrations and weddings. The new building will include a full-size commercial kitchen and seat 350 people. Heading up the fundraiser for the Greer Cultural Art's Council was Phyllis Catalano, a selfless volunteer. Phyllis was a gracious hostess for the event that raised thousands of dollars for a great cause.
